20 Best Dog Breeds

Today, I want to share the 20 best dog breeds with all of you readers out there! These are my personal favorites based on how well-behaved they are, how much health problems they have, and of course cuteness.

I love dogs. I have loved them ever since I was a child. I don’t think there is anything better than seeing someone’s face light up when they get home from work to see their furry friend waiting for them at the door.

Dogs are amazing creatures that can bring so much happiness into our lives! They are eager to learn new tricks, love unconditionally, and are always happy to see us no matter what mood we’re in. Dogs make the best friends because they will never judge anyone, will protect you with everything they have, and will be there whenever you need them.

These breeds will all make great pets for people who don’t have an allergy to their fur (or dander), love having a playful friend at home with them, want to try something different than the standard poodle or labradoodle everyone has these days!

So without further ado, let’s get started. Here is my list of the 20 best dog breeds:

1. Maltese

The Maltese dogs are one of the most gentle breed of dogs I’ve ever known. They are loving towards children and other animals; however they can be noisy because of their high-pitched bark. Their fur is long and silky, making them hypoallergenic.

2. American Eskimo

The American Eskimo dog breed is a wonderful pick for a family with a lot of children! They are very patient and gentle when it comes to handling young kids, so they make great playmates for the little ones in your life. They have a beautiful thick coat that doesn’t shed much at all.

3. Italian Greyhound

This small pooch is one of the best breeds to own if you’re an elderly individual looking for some company without having to take on too much responsibility. Despite their size, these little guys do not let that stop them from being active! Their short fur does not often cause allergic reactions or irritations.

4. Schnauzer

The schnauzer is a wonderful dog for your family if you have a lot of visitors because they are so welcoming and playful! They love to run around and play all day, but don’t mind being lazy snuggle buddies when the day is through. These dogs come in three different sizes, so no matter how much space you have at home there will always be the perfect fit.

5. Akita Inu

If you’re looking for a large breed that’s easy to train and full of life, this is your guy! I’ve known several people who own the Akita Inu and they all say the same thing: he loves to play but also enjoys curling up on the couch for some cuddle time. These are also very smart dogs and high-maintenance, so you will want to make sure they get enough exercise every day.

6. Yorkshire Terrier

Yorkshire terriers are one of the most popular dog breeds out there due to their hypoallergenic coats that don’t shed! This is a great breed for children because they love being the center of attention and playing all day long! They are social butterflies who can go with you everywhere without needing extensive amounts of care or exercise.

7. Poodle

Poodles have been around for centuries as one of the oldest family pets in history! Because of this, it’s no surprise that people adore these beautiful creatures today just as much as they did in the past. Their coats do not shed and their personalities are very lovable and calm. Poodles can be big or a small dog breed like toy poodles depending on which dog size you’re looking for, so there is always a perfect fit with this breed no matter what!

8. Siberian Husky

Huskies were bred to pull heavy loads through snow for hours on end, so it’s no wonder how strong these dogs will become! They need a lot of exercise every day and love to run around, but they also make ideal pets because they can handle colder weather better than most breeds out there. If you live somewhere warm all year long however, this may not be the best breed for you due to their thick fur coats.

9. Bulldog

Bulldogs are not the most popular dog breed out there, but I think they should be! They’re nicknamed “the nanny dog” because they love to be around children all day long; however, you will want to make sure that kids do not get too rough with their small fragile bodies. If you’re looking for a companion who will always keep you company and is very loyal then this is your guy!

10. Chihuahua

The chihuahua dog is small dog breeds of dogs that tend to get overlooked when it comes to having a great family pet; however, chihuahuas are one of the best breeds for almost any household because of their loving nature and intelligence! They are they one of the smallest dog breeds, “tiny fur-balls” that can actually learn how to do tricks, talk, and even swim!

11. Pug

Pugs are the perfect dog breed for people who like to stay indoors all day because they do not require much exercise or outdoor time. Instead, pugs love spending their days relaxing in your arms and giving you kisses!

12. Beagle

Beagles are one of the most popular breeds in the USA today because of how fun-loving and adorable they are! These guys were actually bred originally as hunting dogs but now serve primarily as home companions that always want to be with you wherever you go. They don’t mind being outside in colder climates either, so if you live somewhere where it snows this is a great high-maintenance family pet to have on your hands.

13. Basenji

The name “basenji” is actually derived from a native African language that means “little, leaping dog.” This breed loves to be active throughout the day and will also make sure you are entertained all night long! Basenjis are very vocal dogs who love to talk to their owners, but they do not bark much which makes them ideal for people who live in apartments.

14. Boxer

Boxers were originally bred as hunting dogs and even had the nickname of “bullenbeisser,” which roughly translates to bull-biter. They have since been transformed into family pets with high energy levels and ferocious personalities, so they will put up a good fight if attacked or someone stumbles upon your property unexpectedly. A boxer’s coat does not shed but is short and smooth instead, so it is easier to maintain this breed as opposed to other long haired types.

15. Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Corgis are one of the most popular dog breeds on social media today because they have a very lovable and humorous personality! They love being around children and their high energy level makes them great jogging or walking buddies. But don’t let their small size fool you; corgis can bark loudly if they feel threatened which will scare robbers away from your home.

16. Golden Retriever

Golden retrievers are the most popular dog breed in the entire world because of their affectionate, obedient nature and make great family dogs! These pups love to swim, fetch balls, or just run around all day long with you by their side. They’re great family pets but also work as service animals for people who suffer from ADHD or other mental disabilities.

17. Labrador Retriever

Labrador retrievers are another one of the most common dog breeds today for a reason! They excel in multiple tasks such as hunting, rescue, and therapy because of their kind hearts and great personalities. Labs come in three colors: black, chocolate, and yellow; however, they all have very short hair that is easy to take care of on a daily basis.

18. Rhodesian Ridgeback

Rhodesian ridgebacks are very independent dogs. They are known to be very intelligent, athletic, and fearless which makes them great protectors of the home! This breed also needs a lot of exercise, so they’re perfect for people who live in rural areas or have larger yards. They are companion dogs, however, so they will also try to follow their owner everywhere he or she goes!

19. Mastiff

Mastiffs were originally used as both hunting dogs and war dogs because of their enormous size and strength. They can grow up to almost 7 feet tall when standing on their hind legs! But today mastiffs make wonderful family pets because they are gentle giants with an obedient personality.

20. English Bulldog

Bulldogs are one of the most unique breeds that exist today because of their large heads, short tails, protruding lower jaws, wrinkled skin around their muzzles, and they make cute little snoring sound. This breed makes a great home companion because they’re docile and calm, but they do need to be taken outside for a walk until their energy levels drop or else they can become very destructive indoors!

The American Kennel Club has a list of the most popular dog breeds in the U.S., and it looks like a lot of these choices on our list have been influenced by what they have picked as well.

In conclusion, no matter which breed you decide to bring into your home, remember that they are not just pets but living things as well! They all deserve as much love as any other animal or child would get from us humans, so always treat them with kindness and respect!

Please remember that it is important to do research on any dog breed before adding one to your family. Some dogs may be better suited for households than others, so always make sure to be aware of these things before getting a new pet!
